A witness to God’s promises
Jaime Servat, Climbing For Christ’s missionary to Peru, began December as a victim of a pickpocket, who stole his cell phone as he was traveling to the village of Chalhua in the Cordillera Blanca mountains. He also began the month as a witness to the promise of God in a rainbow over the church at Chalhua.
“And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.” – 2 Peter 1:4
Jaime was working on the windows of the church (still putting finishing touches on the building) and talking to some new believers. One was a new neighbor named Luisa, who had a 9-year-old grandson, River, who was sick in bed with a fever. “So high that I was immediately running to sister Alisson’s house to get the anointing oil so when I returned I told him about our Lord Jesus and His salvation for us and a similar miracle that He healed,” Jaime recalled. “He (River) was crying and told me, ‘I want to receive Lord Jesus. Pray for me please. I want to be saved and healed. I believe in Him!’
“I said, ‘Amen. Oh, God, Your will be done with River, my Lord.’”
They prayed together for about 10 minutes until River said, “I do not have a fever anymore.”
“I put my hand on his head and I saw His miracle,” Jaime said. “The fever was gone. Hallelujah!”

Members of the family were in tears, crying out of gratitude to the Lord. One, River’s 10-year-old cousin Javier, accepted Jesus after this occurred.
Jaime continued working on the church and encouraging families in Chalhua.
A 9-year-old girl named Nataly, who Mission: Peru 2015 team member Rachel Wall witnessed to in July, came to ask Jaime for prayer because she was ill. “She came to His alter and bowed her knees to pray to our God,” Jaime said. “The next day she told me that she had a dream where she was visited by our Lord Jesus, who embraced her. When she woke up, she had been healed. Praise Him for His wonders!”
More prayer and resulting miracles may have been experienced by Taina, Alisson’s long-suffering mother, who has epilepsy. She had gone one month without a seizure. “I know our prayer from the body of Christ of C4C around the world is making possible her healing,” Jaime said.
Alisson, the young sister first befriended by our Mission: Peru 2011 team and since supported and encouraged by Jaime and others from Climbing For Christ, continues to do well in school. But she has had some health issues, which Jaime is having checked by doctors in Lima. We are praying for His healing hand to be on her.
At the same time, Jaime also reported suffering from another kidney stone. We have asked the Lord, who has “given us great and precious promise,” to watch over brother Jaime and Climbing For Christ’s ministry in remote villages in the Peruvian Andes.
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” – Ephesians 6:18
