Name: Miguel Rubén Guante.
Date of birth: Aug. 15, 1962 in San José de Los Llanos, Haiti.
Residence: Jimani, Dominican Republic.
Personal: Married to Kenia (Ketly) Confident. Father of four children – Samuel Rubén Castillo, 18, who is a university student; Martha Rubén, 13, who is in seventh grade; Jeffrey Rubén, 13, who is in sixth grade; and Rosa Maria Rubén (Ashley), who is in second grade.
Occupation: Missionary. Previously worked as a Christian Reformed Church school teacher (1985-1990) and businessman in San Marten from 1990-1998.
How long have you climbed? Started hiking when Climbing For Christ first acquired services in June 2005.
Type of climbing you do: Hiking.
How long have you been a Christian? Since 1983.
Type of ministry you are blessed to serve in: Working with Climbing For Christ in Gentilhomme, Haiti.
Favorite Scripture verse (and why): Entire Bible. “But I like so much Psalm 1:1-6.”
Highlight of climbing career: Reaching Gentilhomme and the divine appointment God had for Climbing For Christ on Pic la Selle.
Special "God moment" you'd like to share: “When I get the opportunity to do something for somebody.” He lives Matthew 25:31-45 (“...whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me,” the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:45).
EDITOR'S NOTE: Miguel Rubén Guante was hired as a translator (he speaks Creole, Spanish, and some English) when the original mission trip to the Dominican Republic and Haiti took the Climbing For Christ team to Gentilhomme, Haiti in June 2005. He oversaw the building of the church in Gentilhomme in April 2006 and produced the curriculum for the school that began in September 2006. He continues to serve the Lord through Climbing For Christ in Haiti.
