Mission: Kilimanjaro 2021

It will be provided

As Abraham climbed Mount Moriah after trekking 50 or 60 miles in three days with his young son Isaac, he had no idea what God had planned. Abraham only knew to be obedient.

Go and sacrifice him,” God had instructed.

Abraham was ready to do as He had told. But God had other plans. He blessed Abraham once again beyond measure.

Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means ‘the LORD will provide’). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: ‘On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided’” (Genesis 22:14, NLT).

When we do what God asks, He returns to us far more than we could dream.

Such is the case in Tanzania, where God instructed us to teach Mount Kilimanjaro guides and porters how to evangelize. For the past two years, we have trained 85 men how to be disciples who make disciples using DMD resources provided by The Timothy Initiative (TTI) ministry.

Damson Samson, Climbing For Christ’s worker in East Africa, says this training has “enlightened great and hidden things in the Kingdom” to those who have participated.

“Many hearts were broken,” Damson explained. “I have witnessed God healing them through our ministry, uniting families as there were many broken relationships. But now it is a different story. We have been comforting those grieved through the hope we have in Christ Jesus.”

Salvation has been delivered to many – both in and outside of the Kilimanjaro Chapter.

“It has been like a theological college at home, brought to them through the teachings and learning materials provided to them,” Damson said. “Physical support has brought a smile to many lives through the chicken project, which was initiated through C4C years ago.”

These are just “a few of many indescribable things,” Damson said, that God has done through Climbing For Christ around Africa’s highest and most popular mountain. Our guides and porters have started Bible studies, taught their families what they are learning, and grown in their boldness to share Jesus with the many trekkers who visit Kilimanjaro from around the world. This is a place where, thanks be to God, we have seen that “on the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.

MISSION: 2021. Climbing For Christ will return to Mount Kilimanjaro to continue DMD training of guides and porters. Team members will join our Kingdom worker Damson Samson to share lessons and encourage our brothers in Christ in their outreach among Muslim co-workers and lost trekkers who come to Tanzania for the ultimate mountaintop experience. Our team also will climb 19,341-foot/5,895-meter Kilimanjaro or nearby 14,968-foot/4,562-meter Mount Meru.

Mission: Kilimanjaro 2020 was postponed twice, and finally pushed to 2021. This will be Climbing For Christ’s 12th Evangelic Expedition to Kilimanjaro since 2007.
