Mission Moments: Malawi

Tears of joy for food in Malawi

If you are building houses on the Rock, you would be wise to remember these words: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat” (Matthew 25:35).

As Damson Samson, our Kingdom worker in East Africa, traveled by foot from village to village checking on houses we are building for widows in southern Malawi [see “More ‘miracle’ houses in Malawi”], he observed “many of these widows are not eating anything, some only one meal a day and some complete the day without food. I knew I am there to make a difference in someone’s life.”

Damson discussed this with his wife and they decided to take the maize they had purchased with monthly support from Climbing For Christ and feed 40 of the widows “who are about to die because nobody is considering doing something to help them.”

They were hungry and Damson gave them something to eat.

A brother in Christ told him afterward that he met one of the widows, who was in tears. He was surprised and asked her why she was crying. “I cannot understand why what is happening is happening to me,” she said. “It is not that I am in pain (that I am crying), but my heart is in great joy.”

The widows receiving 25 kilograms of maize apiece.

“I thank C4C,” Damson said. “You have given me a reason and possibility to share with others the love of Christ Jesus. To all who have a heart to give to C4C, know that your help is impacting people.

“We have a living testimony here and in other countries where this organization is working. Heaven provides for you as you do to others.”

Widows received food, above, and carried it home on their heads, below, and bikes, bottom.
