The walls go up

Mission Moment: Mozambique (June 6)

It took less than one week from the time funding was received by Pastor Duncan Nyozani in Malawi, Africa until the walls had gone up on the church in Milatu, Mozambique.

“It was a team of 15 builders and they have done the work in 5 days,” Duncan reported on June 1. “It is an excellent work.”

A gift of US$1,500 from a U.S. member of Climbing For Christ in early May — in response to a C4C E-Alert (see “God’s time for Mozambique?” below) —  served as seed money for this project.

“The people are building it with large stones and placing the timbers in the walls. The work is being carried on with diligence and is making rapid progress under their direction.” — Ezra 5:8 (NIV)

“The church building is big enough to cater (to) hundreds of people,” Duncan explained. “It is a big church in the community. Pastor James Namame and wife and entire congregation are very much excited to have this and they say millions of thanks.”

Pastor Namame’s church is part of Duncan’s Searchlight Ministries. It is one of four churches, three of which are in Malawi.

“The church here in Malawi also sends lots of thanks for the donation,” Duncan said. “We believe God who has started will complete the work.

“Please stand with us for Phase 2 of the project. We need $3,000 for timbers, iron sheets, ridges, nails, and hiring carpenters to do the work. We are praying for God’s miracle on this provision. In June and July we do have some little rains and winds. So we pray that God may provide before rains and winds damage the wall.”

The former church building has been demolished and worship is now held in the unfinished structure. If you would like to help our brothers and sisters in Christ finish this church building send a gift to Climbing For Christ, c/o Mozambique Church Build, P.O.
